Statement Of Faith
Beacon of Light Church is founded on the eternal, unchanging truth of God’s Word. Our faith is rooted in the historic Christian belief held by the early church, affirmed by Scripture, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. These beliefs guide our teaching, our ministry, our leadership, our worship, and our daily lives.
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible (Old and New Testaments) is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final rule for faith, doctrine, character, and conduct.
Scripture references: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:89; Matthew 24:35
2. The Trinity
We believe in one God who eternally exists in three Persons:
-
God the Father
-
God the Son (Jesus Christ)
-
God the Holy Spirit
All are equal in nature, power, and glory, and are one God.
Scripture references: Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4
3. God the Father
We believe God the Father is Creator of heaven and earth, sovereign over all, perfect in holiness, justice, mercy, and love.
Scripture references: Genesis 1:1; Psalm 103:19; John 3:16
4. Jesus Christ (The Son)
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man.
We affirm:
-
His virgin birth
-
His sinless life
-
His miracles
-
His atoning death on the cross
-
His bodily resurrection
-
His ascension into heaven
-
His promised return
He is the only Savior of humanity and the only way to God.
Scripture references: John 1:1–14; Isaiah 7:14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 4:12; John 14:6
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer, seals them, empowers them for holy living, and equips them with spiritual gifts for service and ministry.
Scripture references: John 16:7–15; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22–23; 1 Corinthians 12
6. Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
It includes:
-
Repentance
-
Forgiveness of sins
-
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit
-
Justification through faith
-
Adoption into God’s family
Scripture references: Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9–10; John 1:12
7. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all who have been redeemed by Christ’s blood.
The local church exists to:
-
Worship God
-
Teach His Word
-
Make disciples
-
Train leaders
-
Serve the community
-
Advance the gospel
Scripture references: Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:11–16; Acts 2:42–47
8. Water Baptism and Holy Communion
Water Baptism
An outward expression of an inward transformation.
Scripture references: Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3–4
Holy Communion
A continual remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.
Scripture references: Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
9. Christian Marriage and Family
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God as the foundation for family and society.
Children are gifts from God and must be nurtured, trained, and discipled according to Scripture.
Scripture references: Genesis 2:18–24; Psalm 127:3–5; Malachi 2:15; Ephesians 5–6
10. Sanctification and Holy Living
We believe God calls every believer to holiness in thought, word, and action.
Sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit enabling believers to grow into the image of Christ.
Scripture references: 1 Peter 1:15–16; Romans 12:1–2; Galatians 5:16
11. The Second Coming of Christ
We believe Jesus Christ will return personally, visibly, and gloriously to judge the living and the dead, restore all things, and establish His eternal kingdom.
Scripture references: Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:12; Matthew 24:30
12. Eternal Life
We believe in the resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous.
Those who believe in Christ will inherit eternal life; those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God.
Scripture references: John 5:28–29; Daniel 12:2; Romans 6:23
